Telkomcel is a telecommunications company in East Timor . It belongs to Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (TL) SA , which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Indonesian Telin (PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia International), which in turn belongs to the Telkom Indonesia group.

history

On June 28, 2012, it was announced by the East Timorese government that Telin would receive a license for the mobile communications market in East Timor. Timor Telecom , in which the state holds shares, previously held a monopoly here. Telkomcel was founded on September 17th and received a radio license on October 22nd. Telkomcel set up a nationwide 3G network in order to be able to offer mobile communications and broadband internet . Operations officially began on January 17, 2013. On July 13th, Telkomcel became the 13th member of the Bridge Alliance , an alliance of telecommunications companies from Asia, Australia and Africa.

Telkomcel has 15 branches nationwide ("Telkomcel Plaza"), two in Dili (in Timor Plaza and Colmera ), one in each of the other municipal capitals and an additional one in Maubisse .
