Temel Karamollaoğlu (born September 20, 1941 in Kahramanmaraş ) is a Turkish politician. Since October 2016 he has been chairman of the Party of Happiness .

Life

After finishing school, Karamollaoğlu studied textile technology at the University of Manchester , after which he worked, among other things, in the State Planning Office of Turkey. In 1975 he moved to the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, which marked the beginning of his political career.

Karamollaoğlu is married and has five children.

In 1977 he became a member of the National Salvation Party for Sivas , which came to an end with the 1980 military coup . It was only with the referendum eight years later that he was able to get back into politics, but this time for the newly founded welfare party . From 1989 to 1995 Karamollaoğlu was mayor of the city of Sivas . The Sivas arson attack occurred during his tenure . This was followed by two periods as a member of parliament and later as deputy chairman of the Saadet Partisi , of which he is now chairman. He won his candidacy for the 2018 presidential election through 100,000 declarations of support.
