Coordinates: 34 ° 27 ' S , 147 ° 32' O Temora Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 2,802.0 km² and has about 6,100 inhabitants.
Temora is located in the region around the Murrumbidgee River in the southern half of the state about 420 km west of the metropolis of Sydney and 210 km northwest of the Australian capital Canberra . The area comprises 25 hamlets and villages: Baghdad, Bectric, Chellington, Clear Hills, Combaning, Combaning South, Dinga Dinga, Gidginbung, Narraburra, Pucawan, Quandary, Reefton, Sebastopol, Springdale, Tara, Temora , Trungley, Trungley Hall, Wallundry and Portions of Ariah Park, Coolamon, Grogan, Mimosa, Mirrool and Young. The seat of the Shire Council is in the city of Temora in the center of the LGA, where about 4,100 inhabitants live.

The Temora Shire Council has eleven members who are elected by LGA residents. Temora is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
