history

TemplateMonster was founded on May 24th, 2002. The idea behind the business came from realizing that custom websites are too expensive for many customers. TemplateMonster therefore set itself the goal of making ready-made websites cheaper than hiring a web studio. In 2002 the TemplateMonster team focused on creating HTML and Flash templates for websites. The company also designed elements of the corporate identity (e.g. logo templates) for various industries. In retrospect, the portfolio was expanded with solutions for popular CMS, website builders and e-commerce platforms:

In 2005 the company started developing templates for osCommerce and Zen Cart;
In 2006 the first Wordpress theme was added to the shop catalog;
In 2007 the development of Joomla templates started;

MotoCMS

The popularity of Flash in the late 2000s led TemplateMonster to partner with FlashMoto CMS, a content management system and website builder for Flash-based websites. In 2009 www.templatemonster.com published a separate product category for FlashMoto CMS website templates. As Flash slowly began to decline, FlashMoto CMS revised its products to meet modern technical requirements and new web development standards. FlashMoto CMS has been renamed MotoCMS. In 2014, the founder of MotoCMS Demetrio Fortman joined TemplateMonster as the new COO. Today TemplateMonster offers website templates based on MotoCMS 3 (the latest version of the platform) and other major CMS and e-commerce platforms.

Monstroid

Monstroid stands for a “construction kit theme” for WordPress websites that TemplateMonster released in 2015. In contrast to classic WordPress themes, the new product is about a toolkit that has plugins, extensions, visual elements and website components. Monstroid is equipped with the MotoPress editor, whose modular code structure is similar to Cherry Framework 4. Another feature of Monstroid is the ability to work with parent / child themes.

In 2016 the Monstroid 2 theme was presented, which supports modern WordPress editors such as Elementor and Gutenberg based on the completely new architecture.
