The Temple de la Boissonnade (also: Notre-Dame-de-Valfrancesque ) is a church in the municipality of Moissac-Vallée-Française ( Lozère department ) in France , which belongs to the parish Eglise protestante unie des hautes vallées cévenoles within the United Protestant Church of France heard. The church has been a monument historique since 1929 .

history

The church, originally consecrated to “Our Lady of Valfrancesque”, was built in the 12th century in Romanesque style as the house of worship of a small priory on the way to the Benedictine abbeys of Saint-Gilles and Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert . The nave has a single nave and consists of three bays and a barrel vault . In the east it closes with a semicircular apse .

From 1560 Protestant services were held in the church. This state of affairs ended after the edict of Nantes was repealed when the building was set on fire in 1702. After the wars of religion the church was sold and in 1823 it came back into the possession of the Protestants.
