The Templar Commandery Moisy-le-Temple is a former branch of the Knights Templar, which was dissolved in 1312 .

The Commanderie (Commanderie) is located in the municipality of Montigny-l'Allier in the Aisne department on the border with the Oise and Seine-et-Marne departments . The facility to the west of the community center is privately owned.

The building group grouped around a courtyard forms a remarkable architectural ensemble with a chapel from the 13th century, a residential building (logis) from the Renaissance , farm buildings as well as the gatehouse and a partially collapsed surrounding wall. The buildings were erected in the 13th and 16th centuries.

The St. Christoph consecrated rectangular chapel in Gothic style is north of the courtyard. The four keystones of the vault are decorated. There is an octagonal stair tower next to the chapel .

There are two round towers next to the residential building. The farm buildings include a grangie , the gatehouse and stables.

history

The settlement is first mentioned in 1184. After the dissolution of the Knights Templar, the complex came to the Order of St. John and was united with the Temple in Paris at the end of the 14th century , but was rebuilt as a Commanderie in 1633.

The complex has been registered as a Monument historique since 1927 and classified as such in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
