Tempo Göttingen

The chess club Tempo Göttingen from 1922 is a chess club from the university town of Göttingen in Lower Saxony .

Founded in 1922, little is known about the early days of the Tempo Göttingen chess club. Until the 1950s, the Göttinger SV was the higher-class playing chess club from Göttingen. However, Tempo Göttingen won the Lower Saxony team championship towards the end of the 1950s. In the 1976/77 season , the club's first team played for one year in the top German division, the then four-division chess Bundesliga , and in the 2013/14 season they played in the 2. Bundesliga North.

Club evenings take place in the Göttingen Hotel Berliner Hof, team fights of the 1st team in the Moritz-Jahn-Haus near the Museum am Thie.

The chess players who have played for Tempo Göttingen include the Grand Master Maarten Solleveld , the International Masters Haukur Angantýsson , Alexander Margrave , Helmut Reefschläger and Martin Zumsande as well as the International Correspondence Chess Master Manfred Schäfer .
