Brittany Amanda Baxter , née Timko (born September 5, 1985 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian soccer player and current coach.

Career

Between 2003 and 2007 she played for both her hometown club Vancouver Whitecaps Women and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln team . In the 2008/09 season she played for Melbourne Victory in the Australian W-League , then moved to the Swedish club Piteå IF , who played for the first time in 2009 in Damallsvenskan . In 2010 she moved to the German Bundesliga club SG Essen-Schönebeck , but only played one DFB Cup there due to a serious knee injury.

Timko reached the final with the U-19 national team at the U-19 Women's World Cup in Canada in 2002 , in which they only lost to the USA with a golden goal . At the 2004 CONCACAF U-19 Championship for women , they were able to return the favor and defeat the USA 2-1 in the final. In the same year she reached the quarter-finals of the U-19 Women's World Cup with Canada in 2004 , in which she lost 3-1 to eventual runner-up China, but was the top scorer with 7 goals and at least one goal in all four games scored.

She made her first international match at the age of 16 on April 9, 2002 in a 3-2 draw against Japan . At the time she was the second youngest national player in Canada. With the Canadian national soccer team , she finished fourth at the 2003 World Cup . In 2007 she was eliminated with Canada in the preliminary round of the World Cup. At the 2008 Summer Olympics , she and her team made it to the quarter-finals. There they lost 2-1 in extra time against eventual tournament winners USA . On June 7, 2011, she made her 100th international match as the seventh Canadian player . She was a member of the Canadian squad for the World Cup and was substituted on in the 80th minute of the opening game against Germany, making her eighth World Cup game. In the second game against France she was in the starting line-up, but was replaced in the 77th minute when the score was 0: 3 (final score 0: 4). In the last game against Nigeria she was no longer used.

She was also nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games . But she was only substituted in three of six games. For the 2014 season she moved to the Seattle Sounders Women in the USL W-League .

After 132 appearances in the Canadian national team , in which she played in midfield and in attack , Timko ended her active career at the end of 2016.

Coaching career

After the end of her career, Baxter became a coach of the Metro Select League club Port Moody Soccer Club on February 27, 2017, where she works under the technical director Ive Sulentic (formerly FC St. Pauli ).

Personal

On August 16, 2013 she married the marine biologist (Marine Operations & Hydrographic Coordinator) Sean Baxter.
