The Temuka River is a 6.7 km long river in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .

geography

The Temuka River is formed by the confluence of the Hae Hae Te Moana River with the Waihi River , around 2 km north-northwest of the city center of Temuka . After 6.7 km the river, which with its inflows has a water catchment area of ​​around 61 km 2 , flows into the Opihi River as a left tributary .

The New Zealand State Highway 1 crosses the river south of Temuka .
