Teor ( Indonesian Pulau Teor , also Tioor ) is one of the Indonesian Watubela Islands that belong to the Moluccas .

geography

Tioor is the second largest of the Watubela Islands. Administratively, it forms its own desa , which also includes the smaller neighboring islands of Baam and Uran . The main town is Wirmaf on the east coast. There are also the hamlets Rumahlusi on the north coast and Ralatlumoi on the west coast.

As part of the sub-district ( Kecamatan ) Wakate , Teor belongs to the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Seram Bagian Timur of Maluku Province .

The coral reefs around the island and the seagrass meadows off Wirmaf are ecologically interesting. They are characterized by a high level of biodiversity .

population

Teor has 2556 inhabitants (2010). The Austronesian language Teor is spoken on Teor . It is more closely related to Kur from the island of the same name to the south than to Watubela , which is traditionally spoken in the archipelago.
