Terence Frederick Mitchell

Terence Frederick Mitchell (born May 3, 1919 in Torquay , † January 1, 2007 in Fordingbridge , Great Britain ) was a British linguist . Together with Frank R. Palmer and Michael Halliday , he can be regarded as a student of John Rupert Firth (1890-1960), who all worked at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.

Mitchell was professor of linguistics at the University of Leeds and from 1979 a corresponding member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig.
