Tern Island is a small and grassy island in the Bay of Isles on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located 1.5 km south of Albatross Island and 1 km east of Dot Island in the southern part of the bay.
The American ornithologist Robert Cushman Murphy mapped them on his trip with the brig Daisy (1912-1913). Scientists of the British Discovery Investigations carried out a geodetic survey of the island between 1929 and 1930 and named it after the terns ( English tern ), to whose breeding area the island belongs.
