One day in ... is a Terra-X documentary series that was first broadcast in 2016. The ZDF series depicts everyday life in past epochs using exemplary daily routines. Each episode focuses on a fictional person whose daily routine is reconstructed as an example for the epoch in question. The focus of the series is explicitly on the life of the average population.

The three episodes of the first season deal with a fireman in ancient Rome , a surgeon in Frankfurt in the Middle Ages and a maid in Berlin during the imperial era . The second season is dedicated to a midwife in Cologne at the time of the Thirty Years' War , a wig maker in pre-revolutionary Paris and a detective in Berlin in the Roaring Twenties .
In addition to more general insights into everyday topics such as nutrition, hygiene, the world of work, urban planning and legal relationships, each episode sets thematic priorities according to the respective profession of the protagonists.
