Terrace building Bad Gleichenberg
The terrace building is located at Oberen Brunnengasse 3 on the main square in the municipality of Bad Gleichenberg in Styria . Four baroque stone figures, two ancient gods and two putti , on the main facade have been under monument protection since 2018 ( list entry ).
history
The terrace building or club terrace, built in 1839 by the Gleichenberger Aktienverein, was named simply with the terrace in Gleichenberg by Johann Nepomuk Passini . It stood below the Franciscan hospice and the church next to the Grazerhaus and opposite the former large, centrally located clubhouse.
The building had a long, wide reading room with various newspapers, a music room with a piano and a billiard room and was used for social entertainment for the spa guests. The wooden terrace building burned down in 1870.
The rebuilt, massive terrace building housed a pharmacy until 2009, the post office and the municipal office for a short time, a bakery, a coffee house and, since the First World War, various shops on the ground floor.
The former terrace or Obere Brunnengasse has been preserved as a traffic-calmed main square, where a market is held every Friday afternoon. The main square turns into a sloping green arena with a subsequent fountain.

The elongated building on a slope and on today's main square runs over the entire length of two storeys, the ground floor is divided into business zones, the 1st floor is evenly divided with nine smaller windows. In the middle, the building has a second floor, with strong glass fronts, and again in the middle with a triangular gable. Under the triangular gable, the main facade has four baroque stone figures on consoles.
