Johann Nepomuk Passini (born September 4, 1798 in Vienna , † January 14, 1874 in Graz ) was an Austrian engraver , lithographer , genre and landscape painter .

Life

Initially, Passini stuck to copperplate engravings and lithographs , which he made from paintings by Thomas Ender , Peter Fendi , Johann Adam Klein and Friedrich Gauermann . Later he turned to oil painting , where he mainly preferred landscapes and genre scenes, but also the military subject . His works are now in the Albertina graphic collection , in the Vienna Museum , in the Kupferstichkabinett of the Universalmuseum Johanneum and in the Army History Museum in Vienna.

Johann Nepomuk Passini was the father of the painter and engraver Ludwig Passini (1832–1903).
