Tertius of Iconium
Tertius von Iconium is in the 7/8. List of the Seventy Disciples , the extended circle of apostles in early Christianity, from the 17th century . According to Greek tradition, besides being an apostle, he is also considered a bishop and martyr . He is said to have succeeded St. Sosipater as the second bishop of Iconium in Asia Minor .
According to the same Greek tradition, Tertius of Iconium is equated with the Tertius named in the New Testament letter to the Romans , who ( Rom 16,22 EU ) sends greetings from Corinth to Rome as the writer of this letter . This equation was denied by the Catholic Bollandists and is not considered by modern New Testament science or church history.
Tertius is represented by Iconium together with other Paulus students in the Omophorion . The Orthodox Church venerates him as a saint on October 30th and November 10th .
