The Terumo Corporation ( Japanese テ ル モ 株式会社 , Terumo Kabushiki kaisha ), listed in the Nikkei 225 , is a health technology stock corporation headquartered in the Japanese capital Tokyo .

The product range includes medical devices and accessories for use in hospitals , equipment for operating theaters and special devices for the production and use of blood transfusions .

A new logo was introduced in 2014.

history

One of the company's founders in 1921 was the bacteriologist Kitasato Shibasaburō . He worked for Robert Koch and Emil von Behring . He gave the company its name. The word Terumo corresponds to the Japanese pronunciation of the German thermometer . Because Kitasato has developed the first reliable clinical thermometer .
