Tesa (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tesa , also Tessa in Sicily (Kingdom), was an Italian measure of length and corresponded to the fathom . The name was also used for the Tesa room dimension. The Tesa is sometimes equated with the term pertica , but often corresponds to a rod . The deviations in the tape are due to the different foot dimensions

  • 0.3659 meters for 1 piede, the Austrian foot and
  • 0.34251 meters for 1 piede manuale, as a Piedmontese foot measurement

Sicily

  • 1 Tessa = 6 Piede manuali = 4 Pide librandi = 2.065 meters

Trent

  • Length measurement: 1 Tesa = 6 Piedi = 1.1575 Viennese fathoms = 2.1954 meters

Trieste

  • Firewood measure: 1 Tesa = 5 Piedi

Turin

  • 1 Tesa / thread = 5 Piedi manuali = 1.712553 meters

Haymass

The Tesa cuba was a hay measure from Turin and another term for cubic fathoms.

  • 1 Tesa cuba = 124 Piedi manuali cubi = 5.022642 ster = 5.022642 cubic meters
  • also 1 Tesa cuba = 5.0414 cubic meters / stere

The measure represented a cube five feet long in three directions. The Tesa cuba was always divided into five, so Quinti for the fifth, Quinti di quinto for the twenty-fifth and finally the hundred twenty-fifth or common cubic feet (Piede manuali cubi). But hay could also be sold by weight.
