Tesfaye Jifar

Tesfaye Jifar (born April 23, 1976 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .

In 1999 and 2000 he was third at the world championships in the half marathon , in 2001 second with only one second behind Haile Gebrselassie .

At the Amsterdam Marathon in 1999 he set an Ethiopian record in second with 2:06:49 h. In 2001 he finished fourth in the London Marathon , set the course record at the New York City Marathon with 2:07:43 h and won the Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre in São Paulo .

Jifar has been blind in his right eye since he was 14 years old.
