The Tesla Model Y is a battery-electric powered SUV crossover from the US manufacturer Tesla .
history
The first announcements about the vehicle were made in mid-2017. On March 15, 2019, it was presented to the public in detail.
The Model Y has been produced in the Tesla Factory in Fremont since January 2020 . The first deliveries in the USA took place on March 13, 2020. In Europe, the long-range variant with a range of 540 km according to WLTP will be available from 56,000 euros and will be delivered from the beginning of 2021.
Among other things, the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is planned as a production location , which is to be built from 2020.
technology
The Model Y is largely based on the Model 3 , but is about 10 percent larger and optionally offers up to seven seats. In contrast to the Model 3, it should be easier and cheaper to manufacture thanks to simplified cabling. The large, electrically opening tailgate and a low loading sill should improve access to the trunk.
The Tesla Model Y is the first model from Tesla to have a heat pump system for heating the vehicle. A trailer coupling is also offered for all available models, the trailer load is specified as up to 1600 kg.
