The TESO ( NV T Exel E strength S toom boat O nderneming) operates ferries for passengers and vehicles between the northern Dutch port of Den Helder and the island of Texel . The passage takes around 20 minutes between the two ports. Two ships are currently in use, the Texelstroom and the Dokter Wagemaker . Depending on the season, there are hourly or half-hourly trips in each direction.

history

A ferry company was founded in 1907 and registered as an NV on January 22, 1908, in order to provide the residents with a better connection to the mainland and to steer tourism in the direction of Texel.

Ports

From 1907 until the 1960s, Oudeschild was used as a ferry port on the east side of the island. Today Oudeschild is used almost exclusively as a fishing port and landing stage for private boats.

To shorten the passages, a new ferry port was built in 't Horntje on the southern tip of Texel in the 1960s . Since then, the TESO ships have been docking here.
