The Testa Grigia , German gray head , French (la) Tête grise , is a rock head in the Swiss canton of Valais on the border with Italy ( Aosta Valley ) at 3479  m above sea level. M.

The Graukopf is located in the Valais Alps in the middle of the Zermatt / Breuil-Cervinia ski area . It can be reached from Zermatt via a gondola lift and tow lifts. Three cable car sections lead up from Breuil-Cervinia. The Rifugio Guide del Cervino and a telecommunications system are located on the Graukopf .

Rail project

In order to connect Italy to Zermatt more efficiently, a new railway system from the Testa Grigia to the Klein Matterhorn is to be built in the near future (as of February 2017) . A 3S cable car or an aerial tramway is up for discussion. The new facility should be pillarless.
