Tet El Bad Stone Coffin

Tet El Bad Stone Coffin (Eng. Tet-El-Bad sarcophagus) is a stone sarcophagus made of andesite in the administrative state (i.e. administrative area ) Ngarchelong of the West Pacific island republic of Palau .

The sarcophagus is in the village of Ollei , at the village's local meeting house.

The neatly hewn stone sarcophagus is 233 cm long and 66 cm wide and has a height of 40 cm. The wall thickness is approx. 12 cm. The lid is equipped with two protrusions that protrude on both sides. The inside has been hollowed out. The outer end of the lid to the east has two grooves and fins at the end.

World Heritage Status

The sarcophagus was moved to a museum in Koror in the 1930s , but returned to its original location in the 1980s. On August 26, 2004 he was included in the tentative list of the UNESCO World Heritage .
