Tetsuya Itō ( Japanese 伊藤 哲 也 , Itō Tetsuya ; born October 1, 1970 in Chiba Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Itō learned to play football on the school team of Yachiyo Shoin High School and the university team of Hōsei University . He signed his first contract with NKK SC in 1993 . The club played in the second highest league in the country, the Japan Football League . In 1994 he moved to the first division club Yokohama Marinos . With the club he became Japanese champion in 1995 . For the club, he completed 14 first division games. In 1997 he moved to league rivals Sanfrecce Hiroshima . In 1999 he reached the final of the Kaiser Cup . For the club he completed 100 first division games. In 2001 he moved to league rivals FC Tokyo . For the club, he completed 46 top division games. In 2004 he moved to league competitor Ōita Trinita . He then played at FC Gifu . At the end of 2007 he ended his career as a football player.
