The Devil's Wall at Osečná

The Devil's Wall ( Čertova zeď in Czech ) was once a basalt wall over 20 km long south of the Jeschkengebirge in the Czech Republic .

Originally this stretched from Světlá (Swetla) near Ještěd (Jeschken) to Bezděz (Bösig). The average height was once between 1.5 and 3 meters. At the end of the 19th century, however, the largest part was mined for the extraction of road gravel.

A final section at Osečná (Oschitz) stands as a national natural heritage under state protection.
