Teun Jaspers

Antonius Philippus Cornelis Maria "Teun" Jaspers (born September 16, 1943 in Ravenstein ) is a Dutch law scholar and former professor at the University of Utrecht .

Jaspers studied law at the University of Nijmegen . There he completed his studies in 1970 with a focus on legal theory. He then worked for the Appeals Council and the Civil Service Court in Arnhem . In 1980 he was at the University of Nijmegen to that of JCM Leyten supervised legal theory magazine "Rechtspreken in de maatschappij. PhD. In 1985 he became a private lecturer at the University of Utrecht . From 1987 Jaspers held a full professorship for social law at the University of Utrecht. In 1989/90 he served as dean of the Utrecht Faculty of Law and later became director of NISER (Dutch Institute for Social and Economic Law). From 1990 to 1996 he was a member of the European Committee for Social Rights of the Council of Europe, which monitors compliance with the European Social Charter. Jaspers retired in 2008 and has since been Professor Emeritus for Labor Law at the European Institute in Utrecht. Since 2014 he has also been a Senior Research Fellow at the Hugo Sinzheimer Institute at the University of Amsterdam . Until 2013 he was also a deputy judge at the Court of Appeal in 's-Hertogenbosch .

Jaspers' main research interests are Dutch, European and international labor and social law and social policy as well as industrial relations law.
