history

The ship

The Texaco Denmark was a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) and was built in 1970 at the Danish Odense Staalskibvaerft in Lindö. The ship had a deadweight capacity of 257,353 dwt. After the accident, the ship continued to sail as Sipca Jeddah until 1983 .

Average

In a large number of sources, the ship is listed as causing an oil leak of over 100,000 tons. This is said to have taken place on December 7, 1971, depending on the source, partly in connection with a collision, off Belgium or in the North Sea.
