Texturing
Texturing is a term from the textile industry and describes the process of giving smooth filament yarns a crimped structure ( texture ). The aim is to give the smooth synthetic fibers made of polyamide , polyester or polypropylene a characteristic of natural fibers such as wool or cotton.
Texturing of filaments
The following textile properties are improved by the texturing: elasticity, volume, increased moisture absorption, better moisture transport, better air inclusion, a reduction in gloss and a more pleasant grip or better wearing comfort. Depending on the application and the manufacturing process, various texturing techniques are used in practice. In all processes, one tries above all to give the filament an appropriate texturing.
Texturing of carpet yarns
In addition, there is a niche area in the carpet industry, where the entire yarn composite is given a texture after twisting or cabling . These yarns are then processed into types of carpets such as frieze or shaggy carpets. The stuffer box system is used exclusively for such yarns. For Shaggyteppiche and Tracklessteppiche a special kind is from stuffer preferred the Twinrollbox in conjunction with the power Heat setting -Fixierprozess.
In contrast to the texturing of filaments, where the main aim is to change the properties of the fiber, when texturing carpet yarns, the visual appearance is primarily important.
