Théodore Ungerer
Théodore Ungerer (born July 27, 1894 in Strasbourg , Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine , † September 5, 1935 in Strasbourg, France ) was an Alsatian watchmaker , manufacturer and historian .
Ungerer constructed a. a. the Messina astronomical clock . Ungerer ran a clock workshop in Strasbourg and, together with his brother Alfred, was a student, employee and successor of Jean-Baptiste Schwilgué in looking after the astronomical clock tower of the Strasbourg cathedral. The brothers bequeathed their extensive clockwork collection to the Musée des Arts Décoratives in the Palais Rohan in Strasbourg in 1924 , thus establishing the Clock and Astronomy Hall. Original parts of the first astronomical clock of the Strasbourg cathedral can be seen there .
His son was the painter and draftsman Tomi Ungerer .
