Thai Premier League Division 1 2008
The Thai Premier League Division 1 is the second highest division of 2008 in Thai football . It will be played with 16 teams in the 2008 season. In 2007 the league consisted of 2 groups with 12 teams each, but this was changed in a league reform to create more professional structures.
The following teams were relegated from the Thailand Premier League :
The race for promotion and relegation positions remained exciting until the end of the season. Both promoted players, Muang Thong United and FC PTT had nothing to do with relegation from the start. And Mueang Thong even managed to make the second ascent in a row. From the first to the last game day, the team remained in first place in the table. The Royal Thai Navy managed the direct promotion, while Thailand Premier League relegated FC Thai Honda even had to relegate to the Thailand Division 2 League in the end. With the second placed, FC Sriracha , there will be 3 clubs from the Chonburi province in the first division for the first time in the new Premier League season.
When it became known at the end of 2008 that the Premier League relegated FC Bangkok Bank would be dissolved, the league acted very quickly and set play-off games for the vacated space.
Here, the playing FC Raj-Vithi , FC Thai Honda , FC Phitsanulok and FC Nakhon Sawan to the free space in the second league. Thai Honda and Nakhon Sawan faced each other in the final. The Thai Honda won the final 4-0 and stayed in the league. But Nakhon Sawan was also allowed to remain in the league. The newly promoted from the third division, the Army Welfair Department , withdrew completely from the game.
