Thando Dlodlo gained his first experience in international championships in 2018 at the U20 World Championships in Tampere , where he was eliminated in the first round of the 100 meter run with 10.70 seconds. The following year he took part in the African Games in Rabat for the first time , where he finished eighth over 100 meters in 10.33 seconds and won the bronze medal behind the teams in the South African 4 x 100 meter relay in 38.80 seconds from Ghana and Nigeria. He then retired at the World Championships in Doha with 10.25 s in advance and reached the final with the relay , in which he came in fifth with 37.73 s.
