That's That Shit , also known as That's That as a clean version , is a song by the American rapper Snoop Dogg , in which R. Kelly is involved. It is the second single from his eighth studio album Tha Blue Carpet Treatment and was released on October 10, 2006. The song was the first single from the album in the UK, but only achieved notable success in the US, where it reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song samples the tune from the movie The Prince of Zamunda , which is played in the bathroom scene in which Eddie Murphy is being washed by female servants.

background

Snoop Dogg spoke to AllHipHop.com about the track by Tha Blue Carpet Treatment that Dr. Dre produces and is part of R. Kelly. Snoop explains, "Dr. Dre called me today. We were working on my album. He helped me fix the song I was working on with R. Kelly. It was a hit before I gave it to Dre, but now. It was a hit." it's a hit. He let me cut all my vocals. That means, 'Take all of your lyrics out, I don't like them. They're weak. "Even I go through this shit too. Until that day do you know what I mean I'm not too big to take criticism. He did all of my lyrics for me and I and DOC had to come up with a little more shit that was just extraordinary. "The title comes from R. Kelly, who kept saying in the song:" That's that shit! ".

The song was performed live at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards even though R. Kelly was absent. The curious thing about the live performance was that the intro of the song had the same cut as in the film with the Victoria Dillard Skit at the end, which remained uncut in the live broadcast, although the word "penis" was censored in the later reruns of the program. Although R. Kelly was absent from the show, the song was also performed live at the 2006 BET Hip Hop Awards and the American Music Awards . R. Kelly's part was played back as a playback .

The video premiere on MTV was Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. EST on TRL.

The album version differs in the intro from that of the video and the single, while the lyrics contain the film intro and R. Kelly's answer "Thank you". The clean version shortened the title to avoid profanity and removed the word "sex" from R. Kelly's last hook.

The song contains a skit from the film The Prince of Zamunda , with Dr. Dre helped mix it into a single. However, he was also working on the original film when he wrote JJ Fad's Comin 'Correct track for the soundtrack. He was recognized as a producer.

Remixes

A remix with Nas was featured on DubCNN, where Nas changed the chorus and raps "Nas-is-back" instead of the original chorus. He also adds a new line in which the woman says: "The royal penis is clean your highness", whereas in the intro Snoop replies instead of Kelly "Thank You", which comes from the movie The Prince from Zamunda . Sheek Louch from D-Block made another remix.

Cover versions

  • Slim Thug & Boss Hogg Outlawz covered the song under the title That Click . It was represented on the DJ 31 Degreez - The Forecast 3 .
  • Melanie from Redman's label Gilla House made a remake of it, which was released on Redman's mixtape Live from the Bricks and was called R&B Smoke Break .
