The Blue Room -

The Blue Room is the second and so far last studio album by the American hard rock band Union , released in 2000 .

Emergence

Union had released the self-titled debut CD and the live album Live in the Galaxy in rapid succession in 1999 . In late 1999, the group recorded their second studio album at A&M Recording Studios, which was released in February 2000.

All of the tracks on the album were written by vocalist John Corabi , guitarist Bruce Kulick , producer Bob Marlette and the group's bassist Jamie Hunting. The band completely refrained from involving outsiders in the songwriting . Kulick sang the song Dear Friend , which he dedicated to the late Kiss drummer Eric Carr . The song Hypnotized suggests that Corabi, who was a singer with Mötley Crüe in 1994 , was inspired to write this song by a title of the same name that he was involved in at the time. The two songs are so different that this assumption can be ruled out.

The Blue Room was released on February 21, 2000 in Europe and on February 22, 2000 in the US.

reception

The German magazine Rock Hard awarded 8 out of 10 possible points and ruled:

When Corabi shines at the up-tempo opener 'Do Your Own Thing' or the groove monster 'Who Do You Think You Are', it becomes clear why the interim Mötley Crüe-Shouter is one of the best in his field: whether ballad-like, rough or bluesy - Corabi's variable, but always haunting vocal range easily implements every nuance of the UNION material. But it is not only Corabi's outstanding vocals that make "The Blue Room" a pleasure to listen to, but also the numerous details that are hidden in the ten songs on the disc. 'Dear Friend', a number that Kulick sings and dedicates to the late Kiss drummer Eric Carr, is such a moment: After a sedate beginning, the song turns over and ends in a chorus with heavy grooves. "The Blue Room" draws its charm from well-placed guitar licks and solos, skilfully used backing vocals and a casual naturalness that characterizes good musicians. One should have. "
