The Brandos are a rock band from New York.

As similar z. B. Creedence Clearwater Revival , The Who , Bryan Adams or REM , as the band has integrated comparable folk or rock 'n' roll elements into their sound over the years.

history

1987 saw the debut Honor Among Thieves with the small hit Gettysburg . The track is shaped by Dave Kincaid's voice, which is one of the most important trademarks of the band to this day. In early 1989 the Brandos began recording their second album, which was to be called Trial By Fire . However, the band lost their record deal with RCA / BMG, and the album was only released as a promo cassette in 1990. In 1992, the second album Gunfire At Midnight was officially released in Europe . Straight rock songs dominate here.

1994 came out with The Light Of Day the third album of the Brandos, on which some country influences can be made out. On the subsequent tour, the live album In Exile - Live was recorded, which was released the following year. In 1996 the quartet presented themselves rockier again on the CD Pass The Hat . In 1998, the album Nowhere Zone was released , on which mainly older, unreleased songs and covers by CCR, Conway Twitty and Patsy Cline are located.

In 1999 their Loreley performance was recorded by WDR and also released on CD by the band. In addition, a best-of compilation was released with Contribution . At the beginning of December 2006, the next album, Over the Border, was released, combined with a European tour. In 2006 only Dave Kincaid and Ernie Mendillo were left of the original Brandos line-up. Drummer Frank Funaro played 7 of the 10 tracks on "Over the Border" before he left the Brandos. Two of the tracks ("She's The One" & "He's Waiting") were drummed by drummer Dennis Diken from The Smithereens and the track "The Only Love That I Can Get" from Simon Kirke from Bad Company / Free.

In February / March 2008 The Brandos went on tour again in Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

A new studio album was announced in 2009, but nothing happened until 2017. In June 2017 the album “Los Brandos” was released, a rather melancholy rock album with five tracks sung in English and five in Spanish. Thematically it is more towards Mexico. While the Brandos' early albums were always about Irish migrants and their role in America in the 19th century, and Irish folk songs were also woven in, this does not even occur on “Los Brandos”. Guitarist Frank Giordano, who was part of the Brandos from 1995 to 2006, returned to the band on time for the recording of “Los Brandos”, as did drummer Tommy Goss, who can be heard on the 1998 CD “Nowhere Zone”.

From May 28 to June 25, 2017 the Brandos toured Germany and the Netherlands. On June 9th, 2017 they performed at the Sweden Rock Festival .
