The Call was an American rock band formed in San Francisco , California in 1980 .

history

Famous guest musicians have appeared on their long-playing records from the very beginning. Bono from U2 sang in the background on the 1990s album Red Moon and in 1986 Jim Kerr from Simple Minds and Peter Gabriel could be heard on the LP Reconciled . Garth Hudson , organist and saxophonist of the formation The Band , was keyboardist on the first three albums.

The singer Michael Been played supporting roles in feature films, including in Martin Scorsese's controversial The Last Temptation of Christ the Apostle John. His son Robert Levon Been is the co-founder and front man of the alternative rock band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club .

The Call broke up in 2000. Michael Been died of a heart attack on August 19, 2010 during the Belgian music festival Pukkelpop .
