action

This series accompanies individuals or groups at different times and in different places as they try by different means to survive in a world that is about to collapse.

Throughout the series, the exact causes of the onset of the social breakdown remain in the dark. In the individual episodes, the reactions of the different characters are shown at different times after the collapse. The protagonists struggle with the consequences of a shortage of food in supermarkets, with widespread power outages and wrecking nuclear power plants; these events lead to theft, the use of firearms and the like. In addition to survival, positive examples are also shown, i.e. how community survival can take place.

production

In the production of The Collapse , emphasis was placed on environmentally friendly production. The series is produced in such a way that each episode can be edited without editing, so the production and writing of the scripts was correspondingly complex. A total budget of 2 million euros was available.

Cast and dubbing

The German synchronization was created after the dialogue book and dialogue director of Mark Kuhn by the synchronous company Violet Media in Munich .

Receptions

The similarities with some of the events we have just witnessed are shocking, writes Besay García Benítez on El Espoiler, this makes The Collapse from her point of view the best series at a time when the future of society is absolute due to the consequences of COVID-19 is unknown.

Narrative formats such as The Collapse are rare attempts on French television. The series is a real cinematic attraction that also takes risks and successfully shows that writing and directing can go hand in hand. It is also further proof that competition between the different platforms is not a bad thing for filmmakers. The competition encourages broadcasters to turn to young developers, writes Hadrien Salducci in Le Blog du cinema.

The viewer ratings are also rather positive: in the French-language database AlloCiné, around 930 viewers gave the series a rating of four out of five possible stars, in the Internet Movie Database almost 700 viewers rated the series with 7.9 out of 10 stars.
