The Concerts in China (in France Les Concerts en Chine ) was released in 1982 and is the sixth and first live album by the French musician and producer Jean Michel Jarre . It was recorded in October 1981 during Jarre's live concerts in China. He appeared there as the first western musician.
Specialty
The album consists on the one hand of previously published pieces by Jarres from the albums Oxygène , Équinoxe and Magnetic Fields as well as new compositions that are influenced by traditional Chinese culture. You can hear mainly live recordings of the songs, audience noises and the new song recorded in the studio, “Souvenir of China”.
The album was initially released on two LPs and later as a double CD. In addition, the album was also produced in two separate CDs called "The Concerts in China Vol. 1" and "The Concerts in China Vol. 2". In the former, the original red on the album cover was changed to blue, while in the latter, the cover was colored yellow.
In 1997 the "Remastered Version" of the album was released. The original album was cut to a total of 78 minutes and 17 seconds by cutting out the audience noises and shortening the pauses between the songs in order to create the possibility of burning the entire concert onto a single CD. The mastering was done by Scott Hull .
In 2014 another remastered edition, now again with 2 CDs, was released by Sony Music. In terms of content, it corresponds to the first edition.
