The Crucifier is a Greek thrash metal band from Athens that was formed in 1995.
history
The band was founded in February 1995 by the singer Hlias "Thanatoid" Kyriazis and the bassist Giorgos Kyriazis. After the first three demos Infernal Pain (1995), Totally Madness (1996) and Fear Is Your Mind (1998) and the EP Innocent World (2001), the debut album Merciless Conviction followed in 2002 . In 2004 the EP Escape or Die was released . From 2003 to 2005 the line-up changed several times, after which Kyriazis was the only remaining original member. In 2003 the band played with Paul Di'Anno and in 2004 in Athens and 2006 in Larisa with Tankard . After further line-up changes, the second album followed in 2006 under the name Cursed Cross . After the line-up changed again, the group took part in a total of four split releases from 2007 to 2010 . It was also included on the Thrash Metal Blitzkrieg Vol. 3 sampler . In 2017 the next album Voices in My Head followed via Punishment 18 Records .
style
Hermer Arroyo from metalcrypt.com assigned Cursed Cross to Thrash Metal and described the music as a mixture of early Kreator and Sodom due to the quantity and quality of the riffs and solos . The music on the album is powerful and chaotic. Craig Rider from metal-temple.com noted highly developed and aggressive Thrash Metal on Voices in My Head . Some rhythms would remind him of Municipal Waste . The electric guitars mainly focused on the melody lines and the grooves . During the course of the album, the group orientated itself partly on the Thrash Metal of the 1980s and also incorporated influences from punk . The singing consists of both shouts and growls .
