The Cure for Insomnia (too German about "The cure insomnia") is a film directed by John Henry Timmis IV and was officially when it was released in 1987 as the longest film with a duration of 5220 minutes (87 hours) in the Guinness Book of the records . However, the film itself has no plot of its own and only shows Lee Groban reading his 4,080-page novel "The Cure for Insomnia" for three and a half days, reinforced with occasional heavy metal clips and pornographic depictions. The length of the film was exceeded by eight hours in 2006 by the 95-hour work Matryoshka by the German artist Karin Hoerler.
The film was shown in full for the first time at the Art Institute of Chicago , Illinois , and ran there continuously from January 31 to February 3, 1987.
