The Dallas Morning News is the most important daily newspaper in the Texan city of Dallas . It was founded on October 1, 1885 as an offshoot of the Galveston Daily News by Alfred Horatio Belo .
Since the Dallas Times Herald was discontinued in 1991, it has been the only major daily newspaper in Dallas and one of the 20 largest newspapers in the United States. It appears Mondays to Saturdays with a circulation of around 410,000 and on Sundays with a circulation of almost 700,000 copies.
In 2016, the newspaper recommended Hillary Clinton, a US presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, for the first time in over 75 years (at the time Franklin D. Roosevelt ) .
The Spanish-language sister newspaper Al Día appears online daily and twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) in print .
