The Good Brothers are a Canadian Country , Bluegrass and Folk band from Richmond Hill ( Ontario ). The band's regular members are Brian Good ( guitar ), his twin brother Bruce Good ( autoharp ) and their younger brother Larry Good ( banjo ).
Band history
Brian and Bruce Good formed the band James and the Good Brothers in 1967 with guitarist James Ackroyd . Their first album, named after the band, was released on Columbia Records in 1971 . After touring North America, opening up Grand Funk Railroad in Toronto , Goods wanted to return to Canada while Ackroyd wanted to play in the United States .
In 1973 the younger brother, Larry Good, joined the twins, who formed a new band, which had its first appearance on May 14, 1974 at the Riverboat Club in Toronto. Since then, the band has toured extensively in Canada, the US and Europe. Winning the Juno Award for Country Band / Duo for eight consecutive years from 1977 to 1984 illustrates the importance of the Good Brothers in the Canadian music scene.
The Good Brothers were supported by other musicians such as John P. Allen ( violin ) and Bruce's son Travis Good from The Sadies (guitar and mandolin ). Travis was also a regular member of the Good Brothers during a break from Larry Good in the 1990s.
The 1988 single "You Won't Fool This Fool This Time" was written by Bernie LaBarge . It reached number 14 on the Canadian country charts.
In 1996 the Good Brothers performed at the Canada Day celebrations at Queen's Park in Toronto.
In 2003 they performed at the Palmer Rapids Twin Festival in Palmer Rapids.
In 2006 the band released a gospel album, Blind Faith , and went on their 29th tour of Europe.
