The Great Heart is a 1938 American short film .

The film is a short biography of the Belgian priest Damian de Veuster (1840–1889). In 1873 he was brought to the Hawaiian island of Moloka'i at his own request , where about 600 people suffering from leprosy lived in a quarantine station. The priest wanted to give them comfort and hope. In 1889 he fell ill with leprosy himself and died of its consequences.

In 1939 the film was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Short Film (One-Reel) .
