Carey Wilson (* 19th May 1889 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ; † 1. February 1962 in Hollywood , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer , who at the Academy Awards in 1936 for the film Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) for the Oscar was nominated for the best adapted screenplay .

Life

Carey Wilson began his career in the Hollywood film industry in 1920 as a screenwriter for the film A Woman's Business and by 1946 wrote the templates for over seventy films, such as Ben Hur (1925), Die Fahrt ins Feuer (1928) and Mister Gardenia Jones (1942) ). On May 4, 1927, he was one of the 36 co-founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which has been awarding the Oscar every year since 1929 .
