Mister Gardenia Jones is an American documentary and feature story from 1942 .

The film begins with scenes from a typical American household on a quiet Sunday morning. John and Emmy Jones have a son, John Jr., whom they name Deany. His friends nickname is Gardenia. The son is a lieutenant in the army and is in a relationship with the neighbor Joann.

On December 7, 1941, Gardenia Jones was stationed at Hickam Field in Hawaii . Gardenia had been recruited months before and was stationed in a small town. His mother Emmy is concerned that the boredom will affect her son's service and is working on the founding of the United Service Organizations .

On the day of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Gardenia Jones fights the Japanese aviators as a pilot.
