The Grid is a British dance band and consists of Richard Norris and David Ball (former Soft Cell band member). Her biggest hit was the 1994 single Swamp Thing .

Band history

The band was formed in 1988 and had their first success with the debut single Floatation , which was released in 1990 on Eastwest Records . After that, the duo released a number of singles and albums . The album Evolver reached number 14 on the British charts in 1994 . The preliminary single Swamp Thing is characterized by a banjo played by Roger Dinsdale , which was underlaid with house beats . The song reached number three in Great Britain and Australia , number four in Austria , number six in Switzerland and number 13 in Germany . The single sold a million copies.

In 1996 the band members decided to pursue their own musical interests for a while. Norris founded the band The Droyds , which concentrated on remixes together with Armand Van Helden and Siobhan Fahey . Ball, in turn, brought his old band Soft Cell back to life with Marc Almond and wrote film music on the side.

The duo got back together in 2005 and played two gigs with singer Misty Woods under the name GDM before new The Grid productions emerged. Then the single Put Your Hands Together was released in 2007 and the album Doppelganger in 2008 on the music label Some Bizzare Records. On the album, four tracks were sung by British musician Chris Braide .
