History ( own spelling : HISTORY , from 1995 to 2009: The History Channel ) is the name and the production of a private pay TV channel operated by A + E Networks (formerly AETN International) in German-speaking countries. In addition to the German-language channel, there are other channels of the same name around the world. History can be received in 141 countries and over 228 million households worldwide and is produced and broadcast in 24 languages. History has broadcast its program in the USA since 1995. History began broadcasting internationally in November 1995 when it began broadcasting in Great Britain.
The television station broadcasts a special- interest program that specializes in documentaries on the subject of "history". The History Channel began broadcasting in Germany at the end of 2004. Since January 11, 2009, the channel has been operating under the name History , which went on air under the name "The History Channel". The reason for the renaming lies in the worldwide standardization of the History brand .
History is distributed in SD and HD via cable and satellite as well as IP and mobile TV in the entire German-speaking area. A selection of the programs is available as a video-on-demand offer.
