The Human Beinz are a rock band formed in Youngstown , Ohio in 1964 . The group is best known for their hit Nobody But Me from 1967, which made it to number 8 on the American charts. Occasionally referred to as a unit wonder , the band also made it to the top of the Japanese charts with their second single, recording two studio albums and one live album.

history

The Human Beinz began in 1964 as the Premiers , with whom they already appeared. In 1966 they changed their name to The Human Beingz (with "g") because the old one seemed too old-fashioned to them. As was customary at the time, they recorded songs by the Yardbirds , Them , the Who and Bob Dylan . They are named as a group that copied the world hit Gloria , which should be a success again for the Shadows of Knight .

When the band began a contract with Capitol Records in 1967 , they deliberately misspelled them over and over again, trying to get them in connection with the be-in / love movement.

It was then agreed that the spelling would be taken with "g" if the song Nobody But Me was not a success. The piece, originally recorded by the Isley Brothers in 1962, climbed to number 8 on the US Hot 100 hit parade in September 1967 and so the old spelling was retained. In Casey Kasem's “Book of Records” the work is entered as a song which has the most repetitions of a word, namely 31 times the word “no”, although this is actually only part of “nobody” and therefore not an independent word. The Human Beinz released 2 albums and 3 songs in Japan in 1969. With “Live in Japan” released in the same year, they were the first group to record a live album in the Far Eastern country.

revival

A younger audience, the band became known as her song Nobody But Me until 2004 Quentin Tarantino strips Kill Bill: Vol. 1 , then in 2006 in Martin Scorsese's The Departed - Under enemies and analog for Stromberg was played in the United States. Due to the regained popularity, the group decided to perform again since 2007.
