The Invincible Spirit was started in 1986 as a solo project by Thomas Lüdke after he left his first band Invisible Limits . Together with this band, the two maxisisingles Love Is A Kind Of Mystery and Devil Dance, written by Lüdke, appeared in 1985, just a few weeks after they were founded . Due to musical differences about the further development of the project, Lüdke left the project and founded his new project, first under the name The Invincible Limit and later as The Invincible Spirit.

He produced the song Push! , which was released in 1986 as a 12-inch maxi under the name The Invincible Limit on Last Chance Records and, following on from the hits of the previous band , became a scene hit. This was followed by several editions of the song as 7-inch and maxi CD with a few more songs on Last Chance Records and ZYX Music . In 1987 ZYX Music's debut album Current News was released under the final band name The Invincible Spirit, which alongside Push! included eight other songs by the band such as Make A Device and Provoke You . Make A Device subsequently appeared as 7-inch and 12-inch versions.

In 1988 the maxi single Contact was released as well as a new recording of the song Devil Dance , which Lüdke had already successfully released with Invisible Limits. For this new edition he was able to win Philip Boa as guitarist. The following year, Aou / Lagartija Nick, another maxi CD was released, which contained a cover version of a song by the Bauhaus band, Lagartija Nick . In 1990 a new maxi version of the hit Push! , which was followed by The Rollercoaster Revolution, the second album of the project, which however could no longer build on the success of the first recordings. In 1991, he launched his own label Sevenstar Records, which Lüdke had founded together with Thomas Hermann from No.Dance, the maxisingle Saveheads and the EP CD of the same name .

In 1992, the project released a live album on Last Chance Records, which was recorded on November 3, 1990 in the "Werkhof" in Hagen-Hohenlimburg and of which 3,000 colored vinyl records were sold in a limited edition . In the same year, Can Sex Be Sin? the third album of the project. In 1994 Showdown came out as a maxi version, after which the project disappeared until 2000 and the release of the EP Faster Life . The band toured with Psyche and The Fair Sex on the Legends United Tour in 2002 and was seen live at the 2003 Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig. In 2004 the mini-album The Invincible Sex was released together with The Fair Sex and in 2005 the band released Anthology with material from all publications.
