KMPlayer ( K-Multimedia Player, after the family name of the developer Kang Yong-Huee ; abbreviated KMP ) is a media player for Windows , macOS (Beta) , Android and iOS , which is characterized by low memory consumption and the playback of a large number of audio, image - and video file formats. It also masters several subtitle formats, has a subtitle editor and offers the option of making audio and video recordings as well as screenshots .
Development history
The KMPlayer forum announced in March 2008 that the software developer Kang Yong-Huee had already sold the software rights to the Korean media company Pandora TV in August 2007 . In the same notice it was assured that the software would continue to be freeware for both commercial and personal use.
The KMPlayer Setup Wizard (Beta 1.0.0.8) has been available since mid-April 2008, allowing the most important settings to be configured quickly and easily. Since the end of April 2008, version 1.0.0.8f of the wizard has also been available in a German translation. The version of the player from May 2008 already contained a configuration helper.
Functions
KMPlayer can play video and audio files. Supported formats include VCD , DVD , AVI , MKV , Ogg , MP3 , OGM , 3gp , MPEG-1 , 2 , 4 , WMV , JPG , FLV , RealMedia and QuickTime . In addition to simple filter settings, the playback speed, the coloring and the aspect ratio can be set. These settings can not only be changed via the context menu or shortcuts, but also to facilitate the control box ( Control Box ) for the most important video, audio and playback settings, which opens in a side window.
Further functions of the software are the bookmarking of the files (in order to continue playing files at a certain point at a later point in time), the playing of damaged or incomplete AVI files (damaged frames are omitted), an AB repeat (Creation of section loops) and a desktop playback mode (the desktop background is replaced by the video).
The appearance of the program can be customized with various skins , color schemes and other configuration options. In this way, the surface of other media players can also be simulated (e.g. Windows Media Player , Winamp , GOM Player ).
