The corgis
The Korgis were a British pop band that originally consisted of singer / bassist James Warren (born August 25, 1951 in Bristol , GB) and singer / drummer Andy Cresswell-Davis (born August 10, 1949). Together with the unofficial members Stuart Gordon (guitarist) and Phil Harrison (keyboard) both founded the band Stackridge in the 1970s .
Careers
The single If I had you was a first respectable success with number 13 in the British charts in 1979. In the same year the debut album The Korgis was released. The single Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime from their second album Dumb Waiters was a huge success in 1980. The single reached number 5 in the UK, number 18 in the United States, number 11 in Australia, number 6 in Switzerland and number 48 on the German charts. Over the years, the melancholy piece, equipped with memorable piano chords, has often been covered. a. by Beck , Erasure , Baby D , Yazz , Army of Lovers , Dream Academy , Flying Pickets , Zucchero , Joana Zimmer and Marc et Claude .
Despite this success, the band broke up after the release of the third album Sticky George under the project name "James Warren & The Korgis" in 1982. In a brief reunion in the early 1990s, The Korgis, then consisting of Warren, Davis and John Baker, recorded the song again and released the album This World's For Everyone before separating again.
In 1999 the previous albums were digitally remastered and re-released. In 2005 Warren, Davis and Baker met again on the occasion of the recordings for the Kollection collection and recorded the album Unplugged , which was released the following year. The song Something About The Beatles , also released in 2006, was their first single since another remixed version of Everybody's got to learn sometime in 1993.
